Kansas enters the official 1 week of the 2025 university football season in an unusual position. The Jayhawks are already 1-0 and prepare to play their second home game in their almost new stadium in Lawrence, Kan.
The Jayhawks opened with a 31-7 victory against Fresno State last week. The Kansas will welcome the opponent of the FCS Wagner (0-0) at the Memorial Stadium, which began to undergo a significant renovation after the 2023 season. Only the east side of the stadium remains largely unchanged from the previous seasons.
Now in the weekly Grind, the Kansas coach, launches Leipold, looked back with the opening and the front with anticipation.
“I thought we had played hard,” he said during his Monday press conference. “I thought we were playing physical. Defensively, I thought we had played well after the first series.
“We have to clean the penalties (nine for 72 yards) and be better with our hands. It was a good first victory, but there are a lot about the film that you can emphasize that we have to kiss to get better.”
Wagner is expected to finish fifth in the Northeast Conference pre-season survey, coming out of a 4-8 season in 2024. The Seahawks will try to build from a precipitated attack which had only one player, Rickey Sprill, will earn more than 400 meters last season. He finished with 612 yards in 119 races.
The senior offensive line Brady Anderson was appointed to the pre-season team All-NEC. He is joined as a captain by the defensive / wide backwarm Sam Martin and the defensive line player Logan Barnes.
“I am proud of the leadership that this group showed, both on and off the field,” said Seahawks coach Tom Masella. “Our captains have gained respect for their teammates thanks to their work ethics, their tenacity and their commitment to the program. They have established the norm every day, and I know that they will do an excellent job at the top of our team this season.”
Kansas was impressive against Fresno State. The quarter-Arrière Milon Daniels breaks in a group of new players of competence this year, when he lost his three best receivers and the main Rusher Devin Neal at the NFL. But that did not slow it down against the bulldogs.
He finished 18 out of 20 for 176 yards and three affected and added 47 yards on the ground in eight races.
