Kamala Harris says she’s ‘not done’ with politics

Kamala Harris does not rule out a new candidacy for the White House.
In a BBC interview published Saturday, Harris said she expects a woman to be president in the coming years, and that it “maybe” could be her.
“I’m not done,” she said. The former vice president said she has not yet decided whether or not she will mount a presidential campaign in 2028. But she rejected the idea that she would face great difficulty.
“I’ve lived my entire career as a life of service and it’s in my bones. And there are many ways to serve,” she said. “I never listened to the polls.”
She recently gave a series of interviews following the September release of her book, 107 days. He reflects on his experience replacing then-President Joe Biden as the 2024 Democratic presidential candidate after he dropped out of the race. She ultimately lost to Republican President Donald Trump.
In an interview with The Associated Press last week, Harris, 60, also made clear that a repeat bid in 2028 was still on the table. She said she sees herself as a leader in the party, particularly in the fight against Trump and in the lead-up to the 2026 midterm elections.
When asked in an Oct. 17 interview with AP if she had any plans for a 2028 run, Harris responded, “I haven’t decided. Honestly. I haven’t decided. I may or may not. I haven’t decided.”
When asked specifically if she still wanted to do the work herself, she used the past tense, saying, “It’s a job I wanted to do.” ” But she stressed that the only way to do that “is to run” and win.
Meanwhile, the political contests between Democrats for the 2028 presidential election seem to be playing out even earlier than usual.
Several potential candidates are already taking steps to get to know voters in key states, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom, term-limited Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and California Rep. Ro Khanna. More than 30 prominent Democrats could ultimately participate in the primary.
