Justin Gaethje provides an update of defeat after threatening retirement … “Someone must fight it this year”

The former UFC interim champion, Justin Gaethje, remains categorical about his position on a light title struggle against Ilia Topuria.

At UFC 317 on June 29, Ilia Topuria became the new light champion when she viciously eliminated Charles Oliveira in the first round, joining a list of elite names to become champion in two weight classes.

Immediately after the fight, the controversy followed when Topuria was faced with his following opponent potential while Paddy Pimbett storm the cage for an impromptu confrontation.

Despite this, after the event, the boss of the UFC, Dana White, explained his frustration with regard to the situation, to say that Pimbett should not have been called in the cage because it is “not the fight”.

Justin Gaethje provides an update of defeat after retirement Ultimatum

Before the main event of the UFC 317, however, the former light acting champion Justin Gaethje shared his position on the situation, ventilating his frustration after not having been chosen.

And with this, the UFC veteran made an extremely daring affirmation that if he has not given a title in his next fight, he will officially retire from sport.

“ El Matador ” played “the highest point” as the next potential adversary, saying that he is not interested in fighting him, which does not bode well for Gaethje.

Not only that, but Dana White also implored that Gaethje retired if he already plans to do so.

Despite this, before the UFC 318 this Saturday, Gaethje went on stage during the ceremonial weighings to answer certain questions from the media and certain fans.

After asking what is the next step for him, Gaethje said: “It’s me or Arman (Tsarukyan), I think someone has to fight (topuria) this year and I think I’m in a better place than Arman, so someone must fight it.

“I hope it is at Madison Square Garden, in New York, I can fight it, then I can defend it on the lawn of the White House.”

Since Donald Trump made a breathtaking announcement a few weeks ago that he will organize an UFC event in the White House, almost all the fighters on the list threw their name in the hat to compete on the event.

Max Holloway names Justin Gaethje as the hardest striker he has ever faced

This Saturday, two of the former enemies of Gaethje compete in the main event of the UFC 318, while Max Hollway faces Dustin Poirier in the retirement fight of the diamond.

Before their confrontation, Holloway credited Gaethje as the hardest striker he has ever faced, snubbing Topuria despite the fact that Spanish is the first fighter to knock him out.
