Just after IPL 2025, Priyansh Arya’s struggle continues at DPL 2025

After the first three appearances at the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, Priyansh Arya has only 50 points at a typing rate of 108.70.

Priyansh Arya’s return to the Delhi Premier League was supposed to be a statement. After an eye-catching IPL 2025 campaign with Punjab Kings (PBKS), where he played every game and featured in the final, expectations were sky-high. He had the backing of Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting throughout. Yet, three matches into DPL 2025, Arya has looked far from the explosive batter who dominated the inaugural season.

Priyansh Arya needs to find form quickly

The 21-year-old has managed just 50 runs across three innings, averaging 16.67 with a strike rate of 108.70. His latest outing against the North Delhi Strikers summed up his struggles. Facing the quality pace of Harshit Rana and Kuldip Yadav, Arya appeared hesitant and uncertain. He scratched his way to 8 off 12 balls, his footwork static as the ball nipped around under lights at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Arya’s discomfort against the moving ball was evident. Harshit Rana, known for hitting the deck hard, pinned him back early before Kuldip tightened the screws with a late swing. Ultimately, Arya edged one back to the keeper against the left-arm pacer.

In his previous two games, Arya showed glimpses of intent, notably his quickfire 26 off 15 in the opener. However, since then, bowlers have targeted his early vulnerabilities, forcing him into a shell. He is the only retained player for the Outer Delhi Warriors, in their first season of DPL. Hence, the responsibility is on his shoulders to come good as quickly as possible.
