Juneteenth TV show, Film on the holidays

In October 2017, the first of season four of Blackish broadcast. The episode, entitled “Juneteenth”, had a musical rotation, which saw the Johnsons attend the school room of their twins which is centered around Columbus Day. The episode was so popular – and before the curve – it was announced in 2018 that a musical based on the episode was in preparation. In its 2018 history announcing stage production, THRDavid Rooney wrote about the episode, “the subversively funny and double-edged episode has become an instant classic, intelligently connecting the 21st century, the reality of the African-American middle class with the brutal past of the country.”
He and Barris also noted that after the broadcast of the episode, Juneteenth presented himself on Ical d’Apple, even before he became a federal holiday.
