June Lockhart, Golden Age Film and TV Actress and Star of ‘Lassie’ and ‘Lost in Space,’ Dies at 100

June Lockhart, the golden age actress and star of the television series “Lassie” and “Lost in Space,” has died, according to several media reports. She was 100 years old.

Lockhart died of natural causes on Thursday, October 23, surrounded by her family at her home in Santa Monica, California.

Lockhart played Ruth Martin, Timmy’s adoptive mother, on the long-running CBS series “Lassie,” after taking over from Cloris Leachman in 1958. She then played Dr. Maureen Robinson on the network’s “Lost in Space” from 1965 to 1968.

Before becoming “America’s Mother” on television, Lockhart directed such films as “She-Wolf of London,” “A Christmas Carol” and “Meet Me in St. Louis.”
