Julia Fox punctuates the men’s look in New York with Gucci Python pumps

The python pump is everywhere again, and Julia Fox just took it further.
The “Elsbeth” actress was spotted in New York on Friday evening wearing a look that hinged on a specific shoe choice: Gucci’s two-tone python and leather-trimmed peep-toe pumps. The outing, shared in part on her Instagram Stories as she celebrated a friend’s birthday, placed the actress at the center of fashion’s growing return to snakeskin while tying the print to an undone masculine silhouette.

The pumps – featuring a short platform, slim stiletto heel and sharply curved upper – combined natural python panels with smooth black leather trim. A metal buckle punctuated the vamp, giving the open-toe silhouette a hardware point that set the shoe apart from the more minimal reptile styles circulating this season.
Fox styled the pumps with an intentionally undone menswear mix. She layered a black leather coat over a striped shirt and left the shirt closed only in the center, creating an open neckline and irregular hem. She added a loose tie on the collar to keep the look deliberately unfinished. The open shirt met the top of her leather skirt, which opened into a neat slit in the front. She finished the outfit with black tights, sunglasses and a silver necklace.

Fox is no stranger to wild shoes either. Fox shoes this year include a range of distinct silhouettes. Over the summer, she wore exaggerated heels, including curved platforms and balloon styles that appeared on several outings in July. In August, she opted for pointy black stilettos with Saint Laurent’s Romy mules at Cara Delevingne’s birthday party. For her fall Agent Provocateur campaign, released in October, she wore closed-toe pumps presented alongside the collection’s fitted pieces.
Snakeskin, meanwhile, has become one of the clearest holiday shoe lines. Taylor Swift stepped out in Stella McCartney’s vegan python knee-highs last month; Olivia Palermo chose Jude’s sand-python pumps for the FNAA 2025; and Sarah Jessica Parker folded the print into several outings, including a hybrid satin and snakeskin pump during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Brands from Miu Miu to Jimmy Choo have also treated finishing as a seasonal constant.
