Jonathan Jones returns for Washington Commanders

After a four-game stint on injured reserve, Jonathan Jones will be available for the Washington Commanders to use in their secondary against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
The Commanders restored the former Auburn defensive back to their active roster Saturday, making him eligible to play again after a hamstring injury kept him out since Washington’s second game of the season.
After nine seasons with the New England Patriots, including two Super Bowl championships, Jones joined the Commanders as a free agent during the offseason on a one-year, $5.5 million contract that included a $2.5 million signing bonus and $4.5 million in guaranteed money.
Signed to provide veteran depth in the secondary and experience on special teams, Jones took the field for 22 defensive snaps and 21 plays on special teams in Washington’s first two games.
Washington and Dallas will face off on Sunday at 3:25 p.m. CDT at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Another former Auburn player will be eligible to play Sunday after entering the weekend in ineligible status. The Las Vegas Raiders elevated wide receiver Shedrick Jackson from their practice squad on Saturday.
Each NFL team is allowed to activate two members of its practice squad for each game.
A former Hoover High School star, Jackson will be eligible for his sixth NFL game and first since January 7, 2024, when the Raiders face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at noon at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
Indianapolis Colts running back Ameer Abdullah will also be eligible to play again on Sunday. But the former Homewood High School star won’t be an elevation to the practice squad this time around. The Colts added Abdullah to their active roster on Saturday.
Abdullah played in the previous two games, when he ran for 13 yards and a touchdown on three carries and caught a 9-yard pass while taking the field for eight offensive snaps and 20 special teams plays to begin his 11th NFL season.
Indianapolis takes on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at 3:05 p.m. at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
At least two NFL players from Alabama football will not play Sunday. Receiver Calvin Ridley (Alabama) will miss the Tennessee Titans’ game against the New England Patriots with a hamstring injury. Dallas cornerback Trevon Diggs (Alabama) will not play against the Commanders because he is in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
