Jon Stewart Roasts Fox News’ Reaction to Boomers During No Kings Protests

Jon Stewart spoke to Fox News after its coverage of the “No Kings” protests consisted of comments about the number of white baby boomers in attendance.

The comedian called out the conservative news network during Monday’s monologue for “The Daily Show,” where Stewart accused Fox News of being “jealous” of participation in Saturday’s nationwide protests.

“Extra, extra! Read all about it. This country has too many old, angry white people, says – wait for it – Fox News,” Stewart joked after showing a summary of the conservative channel’s soundbites. “Fox News asks, ‘Why are old white people so angry?’ Fox News, furious that there are so many old and white people in America. I don’t think Fox News is crazy. I think they are jealous.

As Stewart continued, he feigned empathy for Fox News, pointing out that they had “the right to be dismissive,” before posting photos of MAGA protesters from years past, who were eerily similar in participation and costumes to those of the “No Kings” attendees.

He added: “I mean, imagine a bunch of old white guys in suits angrily protesting the leadership and excesses of an ever-encroaching federal government. I mean, absurd. This is in no way a movement that could sweep the midterm elections and then be exploited by a charismatic demagogue to overhaul an entire political party. I mean, it’s laughable.”

Stewart also criticized Fox News for trying to portray the protests as a “hate rally for America” ahead of the weekend, only to change its tone when the protests were proven to be peaceful.

“I look forward to Republicans sincerely apologizing for suggesting that these Americans were — what’s the word I’m looking for? Deplorable,” Stewart noted. “Make up your mind, Fox. You were complaining that it would be a terrifying shit-your-pants protest. And now you’re complaining that it was boring to take your clothes off.”

“The Daily Show” airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.
