On this week’s episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart lashed out at Fox News for its callous response to Saturday’s protests against the Kings.
Stewart opened the monologue with clips of House Speaker Mike Johnson calling the No Kings protests a “hate rally for America” and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent calling participants “the far left, the hardest, most unhinged core of the Democratic Party.”
“Not the hardest core! I expected partial, hard-core Marxism, but not hardest, full-on ha-Marxism,” Stewart joked. “It was going to be like ‘Mad Max’ with Chuck Schumer on fiery guitar!”
He added: “So this weekend we sat in our bunkers, doors locked, windows boarded, muskets and cyanide pills ready, prepared for whatever the hardest core had in store for us. Do your best, display your Marxism to the fullest!”
Stewart then moved on to the CNN report, which claimed that about 7 million people participated in the nationwide protest and that the demonstrations were “largely peaceful” and “often joyful.”
“It was an incredible and somewhat inspiring turnout. 7 million Americans, zero mass shootings?” » said Stewart. “I look forward to Republicans sincerely apologizing for suggesting that these Americans were… what’s the word I’m looking for? Deplorable!”
Back on Fox News, anchors called participants “idiots” and “stupid.” One commentator said that because of all the “absurd costumes,” the protests “don’t look serious.”
“Make up your mind, Fox,” Stewart said. “You were complaining that it would be a terrifying ‘shit your pants’ type protest, and now you’re complaining that it was boring to shit without pants? Although there was one you chose that really seemed off-brand.”
Stewart then targeted another complaint from Fox News, that the No Kings protests were comprised primarily of “old white people.”
“Plus, this says it all! ‘This country has too many angry old white people,’ says – wait for it – Fox News,” Stewart joked. “Fox News asks, ‘Why are old white people so angry?’ Fox News, furious that there are so many old white people in America. »
