Jon Jones dropped charges in the event of a trial in February.

The former UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is no longer faced with accusations arising from an incident in February during which he was accused of having fled the scene of an accident and threatening a police officer.

The Bernalillo County District Prosecutor’s Office (New Mexico) abandoned all accusations against Jones on Tuesday, citing that he has “reasons to believe that the accused’s alibi defense is credible”. In an unusual detail, the accusations were filed twice against Jones due to an “office error”, which led to rejects several cases concerning an incident.

“I want to start by thanking the office of the district prosecutor for having carefully examined the facts and finally justifying myself completely,” wrote Jones on Tuesday on X. “I have always believed in the importance of truth and equity, and I am grateful that the evidence spoke for itself. The simple fact is as follows: I have never been there.

The accusations against Jones stemmed from a car accident on February 21 in the hometown of Jones d’Al Albuquerque. The police responded to a half -naked woman in the vehicle who said Jones had led and left.

Bodycam’s images showed that the woman later called a man who, she said, was Jones, who then made verbal threats against the officer on the scene. In June, Jones seemed to be involved as the man on the phone, when he wrote and then deleted from X, “the one who was on the phone with me at the start, his horoding is different.

Jones has dealt with several legal problems in his career. He was arrested and accused of a crime of offense of escape in 2015 after fled the place of an accident who injured a 25 -year -old pregnant woman. He pleaded guilty of having left the scene of an accident and was sentenced to supervised probation.

Jones also pleaded guilty to CFA accusations in 2012 in New York and 2020 in New Mexico.

Largely considered to be the biggest fighter of all time, Jones withdrew from competition earlier this year rather than trying to unify his heavy goods vehicle against the acting champion Tom Aspinall. But he quickly announced that he intended to get out of his retirement in the hope of competing with the planned UFC event at the White House next July.
