Licenses in video games will always be a burden for them existing with any longevity, and this seems to be the case again.
John Wick Hex, the only official match of John Wick (which in itself is quite confusing) is about to be radiated for good on all platforms.
There is nothing specific to say that this is due to the expiration of the John Wick license, but the news sudden means that it is not difficult to see that this is the reason behind.
The message, published on the Steam page of the game, can be read simply as follows:
“John Wick Hex will be withdrawn from the sale on all platforms from July 17, 2025.
After July 17, 2025, the existing owners of John Wick Hex will always be able to access the game via their digital libraries (PC / console) and / or physical copies (console), but the new purchases of John Wick Hex will not be possible, whatever the platform or the window. “”
July 17 is only a few days old while I write this, which does not give you much time to take a copy to add to your library if you have already considered it. Admittedly, I have never played John Wick Hex, but I now have a copy hidden in my digital library, just in case.
Presumably, the removal of the sale will also include physical copies for Xbox and PlayStation, so the same is true.
John Wick Hex is not the type of game I expected to come from the franchise, by adopting a strategic approach to the run-And-Gun that you may plan. It is described as a “failure” and time is your enemy.
