Joe Manganiello and Dave Bautista claimed the list of actors for Kratos

Encouraged by the success of To fallAmazon Prime Video actively develops several other video game adaptations, including projects based on Mass effect,, Wolfenstein,, Warhammer 40,000and a second season of sound Secret level Animated anthology series.
At the SDCC 2025 last July, Ronald D. Moore, showrunner of the next God of war The television series revealed that he planned to start production on adaptation in 2026 at the earliest. With this calendar in mind, it is certainly possible that the casting will be underway, and recent reports suggest that there is a limited list of ten actors envisaged for the main role of Kratos.
John Campea, former host of AMC Movie News and Collider Movie Talk, and current host of the Podcast John Campea Show, said the restricted list includes The following names:
- Henry Cavill
- Winston Duke
- Joe Manganiello
- Christopher Judge (the current voice of Kratos video games)
- Manu Bennett
- Jason Momo
- Travis Fimmel
- Oliver Ritchers
- Dave Bautista
- Paul Levesque
Despite the hilarious memes currently circulating on X / Twitter, the rapper who has become a picture Joe Budden is not taken into account.
Staying within the limits of the list restricted above, the big question is: who would make the best Kratos live?
Henry Cavill already directs several Amazon projects, including the ambitious Warhammer 40,000 Live-Action Series, a live Voltron film and a Highlander remake which recently went from Lionsgate to Amazon MGM. While Amazon clearly trusts Cavill with major franchises, it seems unlikely that he is responsible for anchoring another at the same time.
Although Christopher Judge is Kratos’ voice in the games, it is unlikely that he would win the role physically demanding because of his age and his history of injuries.
Among the fans of God of War, the frontrunners seem to be Joe Manganiello and Jason Momoa, who both have the physical stature and the dominant presence of portraying the ghost of Sparta.
Moore confirmed that the series would jump the Greek era of the God of War games and rather focus on the more recent scenario of Nordic mythology of the PlayStation exclusive games.
Regarding adaptation, Moore said: “We are in the script phase, which are still working on it. It’s a good start – we have a good team. It was fascinating to sink my teeth … The more I started, the more I was impressed by the extent and the depth of the mythology involved in this video game.”
He also confirmed that Amazon has already signed two seasons, with the first composed of ten episodes. Moore stressed that he is working in close collaboration with the Director of Game Cory Barlog to ensure that the series remains faithful to the original history and its mythology.
