Four days after a great jury of the county of Montgomery (Texas) refused to instill Jimmie Ward on an allegation of domestic violence, the NFL made the safety of the Houston Texans on Monday on the list of exemptions from the commissioner.
However, this decision does not necessarily mean that Ward will play for the Texans as soon as possible.
The team put him on the list physically unable to play on Monday in relation to his outdoor feet surgery. In addition, the NFL said that its investigation into Ward in connection with its personal driving policy “will remain in progress and will not be affected by this change in the status of Ward’s list”.
Ward, 34, was arrested on June 12 at his home in Magnolia, Texas, and accused of domestic violence for crime in the third degree.
The woman involved in the alleged incident filed a complaint on August 21 before the District Court of the county of Harris (Texas), arguing that she was “violently attacked several times, both sexually and physically” by Ward, including in front of their 3 -year -old child.
She requires damages of more than $ 20 million and accuses Ward of emotional violence, financial manipulation, drug use and threats against her life. The trial also accuses him of adultery and “violent, criminal and obvious behavior”.
The woman alleged that Ward was “under the influence of methamphetamines, in particular of the crystal methamphetamine”, when she slapped and stifled it before forcing it to a sexual act.
Civil prosecution is still active despite the end of the criminal procedure against Ward, the woman’s lawyer Tony Buzbee told The Athletic.
Ward, 34, recorded 48 plated and two interceptions – one returned for a hit – in 10 games, all departures, last year. He raised 549 plated, 10 interceptions – three returned for TDS – in 126 career games (99 departures) with the 49ers of San Francisco (2014-22) and Houston.
