Jesse Eisenberg has a few tricks up his sleeve.

The 42-year-old Oscar-nominated actor surprised some fans of the film. Now you see me franchise with two back-to-back magic shows in New York on Saturday, October 25 before the release of the third installment next month. Joined by real-life magician Noah Levine, the star stunned fans with card tricks and a special surprise.

Eisenberg, who reprises his role as magician J. Daniel “Danny” Atlas in the upcoming Now you see me: now you don’t see me anymorefirst appeared in front of fans at Hudson Yards before heading to another New York location, Tompkins Square Park. He teased the two surprise appearances in advance with simple white flyers.

“See my friend Jesse perform a magic trick!” » flyers, which were widely shared on social media, were teased. And many got the memo, with crowds flocking to see the star, according to footage from the events.

During his magic show at Hudson Yards alongside Levine, Eisenberg performed a card trick in which he made the prop reappear under a fan’s prop.

“Wait, check under your watch”, the A real pain the writer-director told the fan in a clip shared on X. She then pulled out a map of where her watch was before turning to the crowd to show it off.

After the card trick, Eisenberg revealed he had another trick up his sleeve.

“Now listen, it was amazing, but what’s even more amazing is all the cards that Noah dealt, they were actually tickets,” the actor said before adding that those who had the ticket cards “will be the very first people” to see. Now you see me: now you don’t see me anymore. For those who didn’t receive a ticket, the actor said there were also giveaways — including shirts and posters — available.

Eisenberg returns as Danny in Now you see me: now you don’t see me anymoreleading the Cavaliers for the third time after Now you see me (2013) and Now you see me 2 (2016). It’s a role he wishes he could continue playing forever, he previously told PEOPLE.

“He’s my favorite character to play,” the star said of the witty magician. “I wish there were 10 more Now you see me movies.”

“My character is this confident artist who thinks he’s amazing,” he added. “And it’s such a pleasure to live in these shoes.”

Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa and Ariana Greenblatt join returning stars Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson and Dave Franco in the franchise’s upcoming third installment, which follows a team of illusionists as they use their stage productions to pull off elaborate heists. A logline for the Ruben Fleischer-directed film teases: “The Four Horsemen returns with a new generation of illusionists performing mind-blowing twists, surprises and magic like never before in film.”

Fisher, 49, previously told PEOPLE that “it was so exciting” to see the new Horsemen in action, because “they bring this great energy” to the new film and “shake things up in the best way possible.”

“Seeing them enter the world of The Horsemen, while adding their own style, humor and quirky charm, made the experience greater and more surprising,” added the actress. “I’ve kind of developed a deep and different relationship with each one…I really love them.”
