Jeremy Strong on replacing Jesse Eisenberg in the ‘Social Network’ sequel

Jeremy Strong talks about his upcoming role as Mark Zuckerberg in The social network following.

Strong will play the tech billionaire in The social balance sheetAaron Sorkin’s sequel to the 2010 film in which Jesse Eisenberg depicts Zuckerberg’s creation of Facebook. The sequel, scheduled for October 2026, centers on a young Facebook engineer named Frances Haugen (played by Mikey Madison) who teams up with The Wall Street Journal journalist Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White) on a risky mission to draw attention to Facebook’s biggest secrets.

Asked if he had spoken to Eisenberg – who was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in the first film – about reprising the role from Zuckerberg, Strong said: “No, I think it has nothing to do with what I’m going to do.”

The sequel takes place 17 years after the events of The social networkwith Strong – who is currently on the awards circuit for Springsteen: Deliver me from nowhere – representing an older version of the CEO. Sorkin directs and writes; he won an Oscar for writing the first film, with David Fincher in the director’s chair.
