Jeremy Renner reveals if he will return as Hawkeye in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY and AVENGERS: SECRET WARS

Marvel Studios has assembled an impressive cast for Avengers: Apocalypsebut there are several notable omissions. Many of them will likely be included in the film as surprises, while others will surely be kept for Avengers: Secret Wars.

The Russo brothers are experts at handling large ensembles, and few fans have left Infinity War And End of game feeling dissatisfied with the screen time the MCU’s biggest names received.

So far, there is no mention of Jeremy Renner reprising his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye in either film. We know he refused a modest offer to return for Hawk Eye Season 2, but surely there’s no way the Founding Avenger wouldn’t show up to fight Doctor Doom, right?

In a new interview, Renner was asked if he was in any upcoming films. “No no,” he said. “If they want to do [replace me with the Multiverse]they can go ahead by any means and do this [Laughs]. I’m pretty busy myself.”

Avengers: Secret Wars is still far from the start of production, and doomsday must still have its retakes scheduled. With that in mind, we wouldn’t completely close the door on Renner’s return as Hawkeye, even if he’s not in the films at the moment.

The actor was also asked about this salary dispute and confirmed that it was not the case. “because of the snowplow incident.” Renner explained, “They wanted to do season 2 and they offered the amount necessary to do it. Yes, of course I want to do it, but it’s going to take a lot of physical work to get back into it and also just timing because it would take me a little bit more time physically to play the role.”

Hailee Steinfeld is set to return as Kate Bishop/Hawkeye in Avengers: Apocalypsewhere she will reunite alongside her fellow Young Avengers/Champions. Clint is semi-retired, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to explain his absence.
