Jennifer Aniston on Connecting with Jennette McCurdy for ‘I’m Glad My Mom’s Dead’

Jennifer Aniston reveals how connected she feels to actress and author Jennette McCurdy before starting production on I’m glad my mother died.
In an interview with PeopleAniston opened up about her experience working with McCurdy. Aniston was “almost immediately intrigued, flattered and excited” to work with McCurdy after receiving the offer. She went on to praise the memoir and said: “The fact that she is the young woman she is, having lived this life, is nothing short of remarkable.“.
I’m glad my mother died is a memoir written by McCurdy detailing his own personal experiences as a child star on the hit Nickelodeon series. iCarly, as well as the trauma of facing her abusive mother, who died in 2013. The book became a New York Times bestseller and was developed from her one-woman show.
Aniston shared many similar struggles with McCurdy due to her own relationship with her mother, Nancy Dow, who also died in 2016. Aniston suffered harsh criticism from her mother and detailed her experiences in interviews, which linked her to McCurdy and his memoir:
“She was very critical of me. Because she was a model, she was beautiful, stunning. I wasn’t. I never was. Honestly, I still don’t see myself in that kind of light, which is good.”
News of the book coming to Apple TV came earlier this year, with Aniston signed on to star and act as executive producer. McCurdy and Ari Katcher will write, produce and present the series. Aniston is currently working with Apple TV on their original series The morning showwhich recently released its fourth season.
Aniston plays Debra, McCurdy’s narcissistic mother. McCurdy’s mother died in 2013, ten years after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Debra had four children, but McCurdy only found out later that the man who raised her was not her real father. and he was a man Debra was having an affair with.
Aniston is known for her roles in hit series and films such as Friends, We are the Millers, Bruce AlmightyAnd Horrible bosses. McCurdy has also appeared in several films and shows, including Sam and cat, Malcolm in the MiddleAnd Pet.
The series I’m Glad My Mom Died will be a comedy-drama, but little has been revealed in terms of casting or release date.
