Jeff Bezos, Lauren Sánchez Venice The wedding plan encourages protests

Venice activists include demonstrations in an attempt to disrupt or even prevent the planned marriage celebrations of the founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos and the journalist, pilot and the winning entrepreneur of an EMMY next week.

As provided by Variety In April, the preparations for the three -day nuptial festivities – which would take place from June 26 to 28 – increased the hackles of activists who claim that Venice becomes a playground for the rich to the detriment of its inhabitants. Consequently, activists launched a “No Space For Bezos” campaign, a game on words on Blue Origin Spaceflight Venture in Bezos.

During the weekend, they hung a huge banner at the St. Mark tower in Venice with “Bezos” in blue capital letters and a red X on it. The “No Space for Bezos” campaign has also deployed other banners and glued to walls throughout the city.

“This marriage is the symbol of the exploitation of the city by foreigners,” a 33 -year -old venitous activist told Reuters Federica Toninelli affiliated with that of the demonstrators “No Space for Bezos”.

Now, demonstrators threaten to block access to the canals as well as the city’s narrow streets to prevent around 200 people invited to the wedding of Bezos-Sánchez from reaching various party places.

The guests would have included Katy Perry, some of the Kardashians, Eva Longoria, Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnaro said that he hoped that the demonstration would not succeed in disturbing the wedding plans of Bezos and Sanchez. “We will have to apologize to Bezos,” Brugnaro told journalists in Venice on Friday. “I am ashamed of those who behave like this. I hope Bezos comes anyway,” he added, noting that “not all Venetians think like these demonstrators.”

If Bezos-Sánchez’s wedding celebrations pass, they mark the largest nuptial bash to be held in Venice since George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin on the lagoon in 2014, a starry affair that was made without hook.
