Java Films acquires ‘Cuba & Alaska’ before the start of the Sheffield Doc Fest

Java Films, a leading world documentary company based in Paris, in France, has acquired global rights, excluding countries of co -production (Ukraine, France and Belgium), as well as Czech TV rights, for director Yegor Troyanovsky, the documentary by Sheffield Docarary. The first trailer was published.

The film, which will also be screened in Brussels Intl. The Film Festival in the competition of directors’ week, is an intimate and often dark humorous profile of two women Ukrainian doctors, “Cuba” (Yulia Sidorova) and “Alaska” (Olexandra), on the fronts of war. Including mainly images of telephones and GoPro cameras attached to their helmets and chests, the film offers rare access to the daily life of doctors, their dependence on each other and a testimony of the camaraderie required to survive in this world.

The film is produced by Olha Bregman for 2Brave Productions (Ukraine), Christian Popp for Tag Film (France) and Hanne Phlypo for a nod films (Belgium).

The producers said that Kathryn Bonnici by Java Films and Donatien Pierda “understood our vision of the first day to CPH: Forum, and their passion for history was incredible to attend. Having a sales agent who really gets what we are trying to say on the human side of this conflict for us.

The original film soundtrack, including songs from contemporary Ukrainian musical artists such as Serhiy Zhadan, and an original partition by composer Frederik Van de Moortel, will be released on Spotify on Friday.
