Jasprit Bumrah confirmed to play

The suspense on the participation of Jasprit Bumrah in the Asian 2025 Cup is finished. The senior India Pacer should play in the continental T20 tournament, from September 9 to the water, after weeks of speculation on his management of the physical form and the workload.

Bumrah, who played three tests in the India Vs England test series, would have chosen the last match due to a knee pebble. With a series of home tests against the Antilles from October 2 (4 days after the Asian Cup final), there were doubts about whether the selectors could play their first fast bowler in Asia.

But according to a PTI report, the Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) is convinced that the 31 -year -old will have enough time to rest and recover before the competition. The selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar is expected to appoint the Asian Cup team on August 19 or 20, once the sports science team at the Center of Excellence submits medical updates for all players, including Captain Suryakumar Yadav, who resumed the striker at the Nets of Bengaluru.

Fascinatingly, if it is included, we would see the golden golden bowling duo of Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh once again after having presented a stellar exposure to the T20 2024 World Cup. The two can be considered as two of the biggest T20 pacers of all time in India.

The management of the workload continues for Bumrah

Although Bumrah’s inclusion for the Asian Cup is confirmed, the selectors also assess a rotation plan for the coming weeks. The Asian Cup final is scheduled for September 28, leaving only four days before the opening test against the Antilles in Ahmedabad.

Given the rapid turnaround, BCCI officials plan to rest Bumrah for the first of the two tests to avoid overloading it so shortly after a high intensity T20 campaign. There is even the possibility of sitting it for the whole series of Antilles, but with precious world testing world championship (WTC), this movement seems less likely. India is heading for the Asian Cup as a big favorites, with the best T20i side of the tournament, Sri Lanka, ranked seventh in the ICC T20i ranking.
