Jason Isaacs thinks Johnny Flynn will change this in the Harry Potter series

While Johnny Flynn takes up the role of Lucius Malfoy in the new Harry Potter television program by HBO, Jason Isaacs does not think that Flynn will kiss the same long blond hair carried by Isaacs in the film series.

“I don’t think something will be the same,” Isaacs told Thewrap in a recent interview. “I know they reinvent everything, rethinking everything.”

“Since I came with this particular look – hair and cane and capes and all that – I’m almost sure that Johnny is an original thinker, and he will go to another direction,” continued Isaacs. “I can’t wait to see what he is doing.”

Isaacs previously revealed that he had the idea of wearing a long blonde wig in the “Harry Potter” films after not having been happy with the sketches of initial characters, which depict Lucius in a short hair suit. Isaacs revealed that he had designed an aluminum paper wig and a curtain cape and presented the idea to director Christopher Columbus, who saw the potential in the new look.

Flynn, who is best known for having played Mr. Knightley in the adaptation in 2020 of “Emma”. Faced with Anya Taylor-Joy, was announced as the new Lucius Malfoy in early June, joining Albus Dumbledore by John Lithgow, Minerva McGonagall by Janet McTeer, Severus Snape by Paapa Essedu and Rubeus Hagrid by Nick Frost.

For Isaacs, who worked with Flynn in the 2021 film “Operation Mincemeat”, there could not be a “best” choice to play the father of Draco Malfoy, who is often disagreement with the titular character Harry Potter, who will be played by Dominic McLaughlin. In the original series, Isaacs played Lucius, the father of Draco de Tom Felton, a role that will be played by Lox Pratt in the new series.

Isaacs applauded Flynn as a “fantastic actor” and “such a brilliant irritant musician”.

“He is incredibly sympathetic, so I can’t wait for him to be unpleasant and disgusting and a terrible father,” said Isaacs. “I know that a lot of casting, and they are all brilliant, and people who are negative on this subject are idiots because it will be sensational.”
