James Ward-Prowse did a transfer tour to Southampton

West Ham United midfielder James Ward-Prowse seems to have fallen out of the club and could be released in the January transfer window.

The 30 -year -old did not quite meet expectations during his stay at the London stadium, and was also disappointing in a loan period at Nottingham Forest last season.

It is logical that the manager of New West Ham, Nuno Espirito Santo, now seems ready to make changes to this team in difficulty, and Ward-Prowse may seem without surprise that he could be one of the first big names in the door.

According to Dean Jones of Teamtalk, there are already whispers that the former Ward-Prowse Southampton club could re-sig.

Discussing the situation of the former England international, Jones told TeamTalk: “You would like to think that he would at least have the chance to make an early impression, but the signs are that he is not part of the image at West Ham and will not return in the context.

“It had been an important part of the first weeks, but West Ham had trouble, then he was straight out as soon as Nuno arrives.

“The player knows that writing is already on the wall and he will have to think carefully about how he brings his season to life.

“A January transfer will be on the cards and there is already a whisper that he will have the chance to return to Southampton.”

It looks like a decision that would benefit all the parties involved, West Ham having the opportunity to make a sale and ideally find a replacement, while Southampton can bring back a former club hero, who himself will benefit from the additional playing time.
