The distribution of “Dawson’s Creek” met on September 22 for an emotional and powerful meeting in New York.
Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe and Busy Philipps went on stage at the Richard Rodgers Theater to read the 1998 pilot episode. Beek, who could not attend due to a disease.
The evening, told by Renée Elise Goldsberry, was to collect funds for F Cancer and Van Der Beek, which fights against colorectal cancer. Before and after reading the script, Van der Beek appeared on the screen by video message, warming up.
“I cannot believe that I cannot kiss my distribution comrades,” he said in the first video. “I wanted to stand on this scene and thank each person for this theater for being here this evening.”
Once the episode is over, Van Der Beek returned to the screen.
“Now, no one in their good sense would never make a parallel between the two, but a very great similarity between Dawson and the” Phantom of the Opera “is that the two were confronted with the reality that the woman they really liked like someone else, said:` `go to him. Go to him now before changing his mind. Only one resulted in a meme of crying facial, “said Van der Beek. He then presented Norm Lewis on stage to interpret “The Music of the Night”.
Another surprise of the night was when Steven Spielberg – Dawson’s hero throughout the series – appeared on the screen with a message. “Dawson, you did it. Maybe one day, I’m going to have a Dawson closet,” he said. (The video can be seen here.)
At the end of the night, Goldsberry gave the public permission to film, and she started singing the theme song, “I Don’t to Wait” by Paula Cole. She was then joined by the rest of the distribution and the daughters of Van Der Beek, who both sang solo verses. His wife, Kimberly Van der Beek, and the rest of her children then joined the scene. The meeting was the idea of Williams, said the creator of the show Variety exclusively before the event. “She enlisted me, [her husband and “Hamilton” director,] Thomas [Kail] and greg [Berlanti] To help. From there, others have joined the planning part. Jason Moore agreed to lead, and we were being executed. Choosing an appointment took time, but our whole family from Dawson’s Creek was delighted to do so and very accommodating and generous with their time. “”
