James Gunn explains why he feels that Superman is actually the first superhero film he made

James Gunn made three Galaxy goalkeepers Films (plus The Holiday Special) for Marvel Studios, and The suicide team For Warner Bros., but the filmmaker is still seen Superman – Who arrives in theaters this week – like his first real “superhero film”.
As a co-head of DC Studios, Gunn finds himself leading the first film in a shared universe, he will also take care of the future in the same way that Kevin Feige directs the MCU.
While responding to this comparison during an interview with Game radarGunn explained why he feels that Superman is actually the first superhero film he made.
“Yeah, it’s true, except that Kevin must do a lot of things that Peter does, and Peter takes care of a lot for me, my partner.
“In a way, however, it’s weird, because you say that I made superhero films with Marvel, but I didn’t really do it,” Gunn continued. “The guards were space adventurers. They were really not superheroes. They did not have secret identities, masks or costumes, or they had super powers, but they were not really superpowers. They were only the powers from wherever they came. So I think that, many ways.”
He added: “So, it brought a lot of challenges in itself. Because superheroes, everything I do comes from a place to” well, and if it was real? “You know, if I started telling the story of Rocket Raccoon,” what if Rocket Raccoon was real? And with that: “What if Superman was real? So it really came from this place.”
Gunn makes valid points, although it is difficult not to consider the GOTG as superheroes when they fly in the battle with the Avengers, and the work force X can technically be bad guys at the start of The suicide teamBut most of them do fairly heroic things at the end of the film.
What do you do with Gunn’s comments?
I liked it but I didn’t like #Superman Which is undeniably fun and engaging but also everywhere. I can totally appreciate what Gunn was going to with the more sincere and cheesy atmosphere, but it was not for me (it could have helped if more humor landed).

Superman features David Corenswet as Clark Kent / The Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan like Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult like Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced like Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific and Anthony Carrigan As Metamorpho.
The distribution also priitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell as “Ma” and “PA” Kent, and the Supergirl of Milly Alcock was confirmed to make its debut before its own Tomorrow’s wife movie.
“And it’s an envelope,” Gunn posted last year once the shoot was ended. “May God bless our casting and our crew whose commitment, creativity and hard work gave life to this project. I decided to make a film on a good man in a world that is not always so much.
Thank you all at the bottom of my heart. It was an honor. The destination was Superman, but the journey was the work and laughter and the emotions and the ideas and the magic that we shared together on the set – and for that, I am eternally grateful. “”
You can consult a synopsis for the film below.
“In his signature style, James Gunn faces the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular mixture of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who is motivated by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humanity.”
