James Gunn confirms that Superman is “on politics” and an “immigrant” history; First look at 4K steel fuel revealed

James Gunn Superman Dominated the conversation during the long weekend of July 4, but not necessarily for the right reasons. The first negative criticisms of the film overshadowed an otherwise robust marketing campaign that saw the filmmaker promote Love island And even appear in Rick and Morty.

The man of steel is an American icon and, in many ways, a political figure. There have been indications that Gunn will explore SupermanThe place in the world landscape, but he has since faced the expected reaction on social networks after recognizing that those on different sides of the political spectrum could have very different reactions to the history he tells.

“I mean, ‘Superman’ is the story of America,” Gunn said to the Times of London. “An immigrant who came from other places and populated the country, but for me, it is above all a story that says that basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.”

Pushed on the way in which the themes of the film could be interpreted differently to the other of political groups (in particular with immigration being a subject of button as hot), Gunn clearly indicated that he did not care to offend anyone.

“Yes, it plays differently, but it is a human kindness and obviously there will be tremors that are not nice and which will also take it offensive just because it is kindness. But screw them.”

“Yes, it is politics. But at another level, it is a question of morality,” He continued. “You never kill whatever happens – which is what Superman believes – or do you have a certain balance, as laws believe? It is really their relationship and how different opinions on basic moral beliefs can tear two people.”

Gunn’s attempt to sell Superman Like more than another superhero film by playing in the policy of all this (while speaking to a relatively high publication) could have seemed a good idea. However, in a world that is constantly divided over everything, there will be those who think that it asks people to take a party.

We will see what is happening, but there are already revealing signs of possible revision bombing (whether those who are unhappy with the comments of Gunn or Hardcore supporters “Snyreveverse” is not clear). On TMDB, for example, Superman has a score of 34% of days before its release.

On a brighter note, we have a first overview of Superman Steelbook. There is currently no words at the time it is published, but Warner Bros. Never has the biggest theatrical window of the big studios these days.
