Jaff Market returns for the second edition as a platform for the Indonesian film

The Jogja-NetPac Asian Film Festival (JAFF) is preparing for the second edition of Jaff Market at the Yogyakarta Jogja Exo.
The industry platform returns following a successful inaugural series in 2024 which attracted 6,700 participants from 19 countries, presented 151 exhibition cabins and facilitated 63 commercial offers totaling approximately 36 billion IRDs ($ 2.2 million). The event is one of Jaff’s 20th anniversary celebrations as one of the main Asian-Pacific film festivals.
“Jaff Market was born from Jaff’s long -standing commitment to defend independent Asian cinema,” said Ifa Isfansyah, director of the Jaff festival. “We are now expanding this vision by building a space oriented in the industry designed to respond to today’s requests – which helps Indonesian stories to prosper and compete worldwide.”
The second edition maintains the six main programs designed to activate the creative value chain: JAFF Future Project for Project Incubation, Content Market for IP Showcase and Business Matchmaking, Talent Day for Emerging Talent Mentorhip, Film & Market Conference for Industry Dialogues, Market Screening for Private buyer Creat and film LAB for project development workshops.
The 2025 edition will present 12 films over three days in the JAFF Future project, targeting participants in the Asia-Pacific region which incorporate Indonesian elements. The content market will present 10 IPS for adaptation opportunities, while Talent Day continues its collaboration with the main players in the industry after last year’s partnership with Netflix.
Film Lab opens on five selected development stadium projects focused on international co -production opportunities, targeting directors of first or second time. The Film & Market conference is again associated with Aprofi (Indonesia Film Producers Association) to cover themes, talents and creativity to financing, innovation and regulations.
The Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha said: “The government considers the JAFF market as a key partner in the conduct of sustainable growth within the film industry. This platform brings together players in the industry, as well as the basis of the basics of a collaboration between the essential intermediary networks – essential for the positioning of Indonesian cinema as a cultural force and economic driver in the region. ”
Indonesian cinema faces structural challenges despite growing interest. In May 2025, admissions to the cinema reached 35 million to 44% of the total of 80 million and more than 2024 – but the country operated with just over 2,200 screens on a national scale, creating bottlenecks for distribution and IP monetization.
“Our objective is to position the JAFF market as a growth catalyst through the national cinema ecosystem – from the generation of ideas and talent development to distribution strategies and long -term partnerships,” said Linda Gozali, director of the market market. “We are here to fill Indonesian content with real opportunities – both locally and internationally.”
The alumni of Jaff Market 2024 have already had a global impact. “Pangku”, a feature film by Reza Rahadian, was selected for HAF goes to Cannes at the film 2025 film, while three IP titles – “Bandits of Batavia”, “Jitu” and “Locust” – have successfully participated in the IP Tagging Forum in Cannes.
The first indicators show a strong dynamic for 2025, with more than 50% of the stands already guaranteed and an increase in the interests of sponsors. The event is strategically positioned at the end of the calendar of the Southeast Asia industry market.
