Jadon Sancho must lower Borussia Dortmund wage demands

Jadon Sancho’s uncertain future has taken another turn, with reports from the Daily Mirror claiming the winger will have to halve his £300,000-a-week salary if he wants to join Borussia Dortmund.

The 25-year-old is currently on loan at Aston Villa, but his time at Birmingham has been disappointing, with just four Premier League appearances since his arrival in the summer.

Sancho’s move to Villa was aimed at reviving a career which has faltered since his high-profile £73 million move from Dortmund to Manchester United in 2021.

However, his struggles with fitness and fitness continued. This summer, United allowed him to leave on loan to join Aston Villa, but the England winger has struggled to revive his career.

Jadon Sancho must lower his salary demands

With Borussia Dortmund now interested in recruiting him again, he has been asked to lower his salary demands.

Dortmund remain interested in bringing Sancho back to Germany, where he enjoyed his best football between 2017 and 2021.

The Bundesliga side believe a return could help him rediscover his spark, but only if he accepts a significantly reduced fee.

Dortmund’s current financial model does not allow players to earn anything close to Sancho’s current salary at Old Trafford.

A reunion with Dortmund could prove mutually beneficial, providing Sancho with a fresh start and Dortmund with a proven creative outlet as they look to challenge Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen for domestic honours.

However, unless the England winger is prepared to make significant financial sacrifices, negotiations could become bogged down again.

With Man United ready to let the player leave the club permanently next year, Sancho has the opportunity to resurrect his career.
