Hong Kong and the Global Jackie Chan film icon received a career leopard prize on Saturday evening and an enthusiastic reception at the 78th edition of the Locarno film festival in Switzerland. And Sunday morning, the legendary multi-hyphenate shared information on his career at a conference at the festival which attracted a big crowd that started aligning itself in front of the cinema well in advance.
Chan remembers having worked like a young cascade guy with Bruce Lee Fury fist. “Bruce Lee typed my shoulder [and said] “Great”, after several catches of a painful scene, he told the public.
Chan also shared how he gained a lot of respect for people in a bowling alley when he brought Bruce Lee there, adding that he was himself a very good bowler.
After Lee’s death, Chan was invited to redo Fury fistBut it was the “bad script, the bad character,” he felt. “The film just didn’t make a box office.” The filmmakers wanted him to become the new Lee, the poster even saying: “The new Bruce Lee [in big letter] Jackie Chan [in very small print,” the star said. “The directed wanted me [to do] Just like Bruce Lee. One of Chan’s advice for the longevity of the industry: always open and seek to change and evolve. Later in his career, “I wanted to be an Asian Niro Robert,” said the star, explaining that television and other hosts would always present it while making a martial arts gesture. “No one presents Robert de Niro” with a gesture of martial arts, said Chan, winning laughter.

As part of a tribute to her career, Chan also came to Locarno to present her films Project A (1983) and Police story (1985), on which he worked as a star and director.
