“It’s the most important thing”

WWE legend John Cena recently revealed that he rejected a major idea from the company’s chief content officer, Triple H, for his retirement tour. Cena will hang up his cleats after one final match on December 13.
John Cena only has two dates left on his retirement tour. The Chain Gang Soldier is set to face Dominik Mysterio in a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series: WarGames. After that, he will wrestle in his final match on Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. For The GOAT’s latest outing, the creative team led by Triple H holds a Last Time Is Now tournament to determine John’s final opponent.
Thanks for the submission!
During the last edition of WWE RAW RecapCena sat down with Sam Roberts and Megan Morant to chat. The 17-time world champion said he liked that WWE held a Last Time Is Now tournament to determine his final opponent.
Cena also said that he personally called Triple H about hosting this tournament, revealing that he rejected The Game’s idea to dedicate the entire December 13 show to him because he believed the company wouldn’t be able to make everyone happy. So he wanted to feature the stars of NXT against some of the biggest names on the main roster in Saturday Night’s Main Event.
“I love the Time Is Now tournament, the fact that we have a way to win the chance to be, to qualify as my last opponent. And I really want to take my hat off to Triple H. I called him and I said, ‘I have an idea. We have to do two hours for the tribute show. And if you do a full John Cena tribute, two things are going to happen. You’ll either do too much or not enough. You’ll never please everyone. I would like to propose that we have big WWE superstars wrestling exhibition matches against the brightest in NXT, so that way we have a sold out building,” he said.
Cena hoped the whole world would watch his latest outing on December 13 because it would shine a spotlight on NXT’s stars.
“I hope the whole world will watch Saturday night’s Main Event. I will have the opportunity to wrestle one last time, but in doing so everyone will also be able to see what to expect. I think that’s the most important thing,” he added.
