“It’s not a football club”

The former Manchester United manager, Louis Van Gaal, criticized the club, qualifying them as a commercial side. He said that the owners only cared on the financial side and not performance on the field.
Addressing Sky Sports, Van Gaal did a diatribe and said that a united manager was not consulted on the players he wanted at the club. He added that Manchester United was not directed as a football club and said it was difficult for a manager to do Old Trafford. He said (via Si):
“It’s always a commercial club. It’s not a football club, I think. I have already said it. And it’s always difficult. When [it’s] Not the manager [who] Decides which player should come, it’s very difficult. “”
Van Gaal had also criticized the Red Devils in 2020, saying that the club had no quality players in the team. He told Viaetbal International (via the objective):
“Man United did not have the qualities to become champions and had an obsolete selection with 10 players out of 30, five out of 35. A turnover of 600 million pounds sterling and cannot buy the players you need. You should buy number one and not the number seven.”
Van Gaal managed Manchester United for two years between 2014 and 2016. He was only dismissed a few days after winning the 2015/16 FA Cup and was replaced by Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United asked to learn from Liverpool by Van Gaal
Louis Van Gaal urged Manchester United’s thinking group to learn from Liverpool. He thinks that coaches should be those who make the decision on signatures and not on club management. He said:
“I think that is how it should be, because then you can dismiss a manager because he gives no results. But when other people buy players, then you have a problem. Because you must have knowledge of the manager, the orientation of the manager, because he must train them. So I think it will always be like that. And Arne Slot [Liverpool manager] is the man who tells his technical director that he must buy this player. Be careful.
Manchester United finished 15th in the Premier League last season, while Liverpool won the title.
