“It was not an easy decision”

In a bomb for the MMA world and Irish policy, the star of the UFC, Conor McGregor, withdrew from the Irish presidential race after months of campaign and efforts to legitimize his candidacy.

Earlier in the day, in a long post on X, the former champion of the UFC division announced the news, revealing that he had decided to “withdraw” from the elections after a deliberate discussion with his family.

However, in his message castigating the presidential election of the country, calling it as non-democratic, “ the notorious ” guaranteed that it was only the beginning of his political career, and he would come back to compete in a future election:

“After a careful reflection and after consulting my family, I withdraw my candidacy from this presidential race. It was not an easy decision, but it is the right one at the moment. Although I will not dispute this election, my commitment to Ireland does not stop here.”

McGregor added:

“My first adventure in politics, and although I have chosen to withdraw this tower, significant progress has been made. I want to assure the inhabitants of Ireland that it will not be my last elections … This is not the end, but the start of my political trip … I will continue to serve my people on the world scene, lobbying for the best interests of Socially and economically Ireland, there is no doubt.”
