Israel attacks Hamas leaders in Qatar, says the Israeli source
Israel led an attack on Hamas leaders in Doha, an Israeli source told CNN, after an explosion in the Qatari capital.
The source did not say who had been targeted, but the leaders of Hamas used the Qatari capital as head office outside Gaza for years.
Shortly after the explosion, the Israeli defense forces (FDI) published a statement that she had targeted the “senior management” of Hamas with “a specific strike” in a joint operation with the security agency Shin Bet.
The declaration did not specify where the operation was made, but suggested that it was outside Gaza.
“For years, these members of Hamas leaders have led the operations of the terrorist organization, are directly responsible for the brutal of October 7 and orchestrated and managed the war against the State of Israel.”
A senior Hamas official confirmed to CNN that the group’s negotiators had been targeted in Doha.
On Monday, the chief negotiator of Hamas, Khalil al-Hayya, met with Prime Minister Qatari Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in Doha.
The attack seems to mark the first time that Israel has launched an operation in Qatar.
This is a story in development and will be updated.
