Among them, Mumbai Indians (MI) are reportedly leading the race to bring back Kishan as the franchise still sees him as the ideal fit at the top of their batting order.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are also looking for a quality Indian top-order batter and reliable wicketkeeper, and Ishan seems to be a perfect fit for the three-time IPL champions.

Well, Kishan had a mixed season with SRH earlier this year. Despite being bought for a whopping ₹11.25 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, the Jharkhand cricketer’s season has been inconsistent, amassing just 354 runs.

He had started the season with a brilliant century but failed to maintain that momentum and the team failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad unlikely to release Ishan Kishan before IPL 2026 auction

However, Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently reluctant to let Ishan go. Now, a Revsportz journalist Rohit Juglan has claimed that Mumbai Indians are “not interested” in Ishan, nor are they considering sidelining the keeper-batsman for IPL 2026.

The journalist further revealed that SRH was also in no mood to release Ishan due to his dual role as keeper-batsman. SSR is looking for a quality player who can bowl four overs, but they are not going to release their top-order batter before the auction..

Sunrisers Hyderabad to undergo major transformation ahead of IPL 2026 auction

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad are gearing up for a massive squad overhaul ahead of the IPL 2026 auction after finishing sixth in the 2025 season with 13 points. Despite a record start, including their mammoth 286/4 against Rajasthan Royals, SRH’s campaign lost momentum as key players failed to perform with both bat and ball.

The SRH team management is now planning to release several top names to rebuild a stronger and more balanced team. Captain Pat Cummins, who cost ₹18 crore, is likely to be released due to fitness concerns and inconsistent form.

Along with him, Mohammed Shami (₹10 crore), Harshal Patel (₹8 crore), Rahul Chahar (₹3.2 crore), Abhinav Manohar (₹3.2 crore).2 crore), Adam Zampa (₹20.4 crore) and Eshan Malinga (₹1.2 crore) are also expected to be released by the franchise.

By dropping Cummins, Shami, Harshal, Rahul, Zampa, Malinga and Manohar, SRH could free up nearly ₹46 crore, which would give them a huge financial advantage to target new foreign stars and young Indian talents for IPL 2026.
