Newcastle turns to Ramsdale in the goalkeeper Hunt after missing Trafford

Newcastle has opened negotiations with Southampton for a move for Aaron Ramsdale as they continue to strengthen between messages before the new season.
The Magpies submitted a proposal for an initial loan agreement which includes an option to buy.
Southampton, however, would prefer to sell Ramsdale and, if they accept a temporary change, they want significant loan costs as part of the arrangement.
Discussions remain underway and no final agreement has yet been concluded, according to reports.
Eddie Howe’s team continued a goalkeeper all summer, but should now lose the longtime target James Trafford.
Manchester City decided to bring Trafford back, despite the previously leaving Burnley permanently.
Newcastle continued the 21 -year -old last summer and again at the end of May, offering 27 million pounds of international sterling in England under 21 before the club World Cup.
But City has changed heart, twinned this offer and agreed a five-year contract, with the possibility of an additional year, to re-sign the young goalkeeper who left them in 2023.
Ramsdale, now 27 years old, left Arsenal for Southampton in a move of 25 million pounds Sterling last summer and signed a contract that binds it to St Mary’s until 2029.
The English international previously spent three seasons in Bournemouth, working under Howe from 2017 to 2020, before enjoying a strong fate in Arsenal where he was still present during their Premier League campaign in 2022-23 which ended with a finish.
However, he lost his place against David Raya the following year, and his first season with Southampton ended with relegation.
In total, Ramsdale made 32 appearances for the saints last season and kept three clean leaves, undergoing his third drop from the Premier League in his career.
Despite Nick Pope as No. 1, Newcastle wishes to add competition for the position.
Martin Dubravka, Odyseas Vlachodimos, John Ruddy and Mark Gillespie are also part of the team of the team’s goalkeepers, but Howe is looking for a long -term solution.
