IRON MAN 2 Star Mickey Rourke Launches GoFundMe to Stop Evictions and Cover $60,000 in Unpaid Rent

Mickey Rourke’s career spans more than four decades. During that time, he won a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA, was nominated for an Academy Award, and starred in films that grossed nearly $2 billion worldwide.

The page, titled “Support Mickey to Stop Eviction,” urges Rourke fans to “Help Mickey Rourke stay home.”

“Mickey Rourke is currently facing a very difficult and urgent situation: he is at risk of being evicted from his home,” the GoFundMe description explains. “Life doesn’t always move in a straight line, and despite everything Mickey has given through his work and life, he is now facing a difficult financial time that puts his home at risk.”

Fundraising will pay “immediate housing expenses and preventing eviction”, And “The goal is to give Mickey some stability and peace of mind during this stressful time so he can stay home and have the space he needs to get back on his feet. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a real difference.”

Liya-Joelle Jones, a member of Rourke’s management team, runs GoFundMe and told the trade: “Mickey is going through a very difficult time right now, and it’s incredibly touching to see how many people care about him and want to help him.”

Rourke received a three-day eviction notice on Dec. 18 for a home he initially rented for $5,200 a month. This amount was later increased to $7,000. As of this writing, the GoFundMe, which has a goal of $100,000, has raised $1,750.

At a time when many people are struggling to pay bills or buy groceries, it’s a lot to ask fans to band together and find nearly $60,000 in unpaid rent for a former Hollywood star. The GoFundMe points out, however, that Rouke was confronted with “health problems, financial difficulties and the quiet burden of being left behind” over the last few years.
