IPL 2025 likely to resume on May 16 or 17. Final could be moved from Kolkata, the reason is …

Suspended due to the Indian-Pakistani military conflict, the Premier Indian League (IPL) should resume May 16 or 17 with the possibility that the final is moved from Kolkata. The announcement of the ceasefire on Saturday paved the way for the resumption of the league suspended on May 9 for a week. The members of the IPL Board of Directors and BCCI officials discussed the recovery plan on Sunday. Vice-president of BCCI, Rajeev Shukla, said that the board of directors was still working on the creation of an appropriate schedule.

“For the moment, there is no decision on IPL. BCCI officials train on solutions. The BCCI secretary, the president of the IPL, is in talks with franchises and everyone, so very soon we will know the decision, efforts are made to take up the tournament early,” said Shukla.

An IPL source said that the League will resume with the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Lucknow – the game that was to be played on May 9.

“All the teams have been invited to recall their players, the tournament will resume on May 16 or 17 in Lucknow. The final calendar will be shared tomorrow (Monday),” a source told PTI.

“Most likely, the matches will be held in four sites and Delhi and Dharamsala will not be able to host more games. All the equipment has already been deleted from these sites,” added the source.

The source also said that there will be no change in the place to qualify I and Eliminator that Hyderabad was supposed to welcome, but Kolkata could fail to welcome the final, most likely on June 1, due to rain forecasts that day in the city.

“For the moment, there is no change in the scene for the scene of the playoffs, but it seems that the rain can affect the Kolkata final. In this case, the final could be played in Ahmedabad,” said the source.

Addressing PTI, the secretary of the BCCI, Devajit Saikia, added: “In the coming days, we will start consultations with franchises, broadcasters, sponsors and state associations which should organize the remaining matches before crystallizing a decision on the request of the League.

“Since the importance of IPL at this stage, it will also be careful and necessary to take the head of the government of India before finalizing the moment of its restart.”

The abandoned game between PBKS and DC

The two teams may each come. The Punjab Kings had run at 122 for 1 in 10.1 overs when the match in Dharamsala had to be stopped due to increased tension between India and Pakistan.

The players were transported by bus to Jalandhar in Punjab where they went to Delhi by train.

If only four places are chosen to welcome the 16 remaining games, the Capitals of Delhi, the Royals of Rajasthan and the Mumbai Indians will miss their home matches.

This means that the rest of the tournament will be limited to Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Lucknow.

CSK, RR and SRH are already out of calculation and the battle to seal the four places in playoffs is part of seven teams.

The Gujarat Titans will direct from now on the table with 16 points and an NRR upper 0.793, followed by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (16 points, 0.482), the Punjab Kings (15), the Indians of Mumbai (14), Delhi Capitals (13), Kolkata Knight Riders (11) and Lucknow Super Giants (10).
