Invincible Creator reveals a “darker” Mark Grayson

Invincible season 4 is on the way and will arrive early next year. Prime Video series creator and titular superhero from the comic book that inspired the series, Robert Kirkman, has revealed a shocking detail about the upcoming episode of the hit series.
Amazon Prime Videos Invincible is based on an Image Comics series of the same name. The TV show depicts the struggles that teenage superhero, Mark Grayson (Invincible’s civilian identity), faces on a daily basis. Grayson is played by Stephen Yeun. The series also features Sandra Oh and JK Simmons as parents.
In an interview with by ScreenRant Liam Crowley, Kirkman revealed that Grayson will be forced to make some changes in his life in order to stay afloat. As a result, he might become a bit darker than the hero fans have come to know and love.
I think after what we saw in season three with the Invincible War and the Conquest, you know, this is a guy who spent so much time worrying about becoming his father or being more like his father, and now he may realize that he may have to be more like his father just to survive, just to get by, because of the dire stakes of everything he does.
As Kirkman mentioned, Grayson was always afraid of becoming his father. However, after the events of Invincible season 3, he may not have a choice in the matter. And, to make matters worse, this transformation will be the least of his problems. The series creator mentioned that the superhero was probably about to hit rock bottom.
So, you know, we’re going to see a much darker Mark Grayson, who has, you know, a little more determination, is more willing to cross some lines, and it’s going to happen, you know, maybe at the worst time of his life.
On a more optimistic note, Kirkman also mentioned that he thinks season 4 will be the best yet. He explained that his hope as a creator is to ensure that his work continues to grow and become better than his predecessors.
So, you know, it’s a big season. It’s a show that’s escalating. We try to make each season better than the last. And I am convinced that season 4 will be superior to season 3.
Although no specific date has yet been announced at the time of publication of this article, Invincible season 4 has a confirmed release window of March 2026.
