Inter Miami CF today announced the signing of Spanish left-back Sergio Reguilón until December 2027, with an option to extend until December 2028. Reguilón, who will occupy an international place in the squad, adds valuable depth to the squad, bringing a wealth of experience gained in European football’s biggest competitions.
“It’s a very ambitious project, a champion club that does things very well, and that’s what attracts me: coming here to continue winning and competing,” Reguilón said. “My goal is to keep winning, to win the cups we are missing and to win everything here.”
Reguilón, 28, joins Inter Miami after playing in two of Europe’s most prestigious leagues – La Liga and the English Premier League – as well as a strong career in major international competitions, including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Throughout his professional career, the defender has recorded over 260 appearances, including 81 in the Premier League and 56 in La Liga.
Born in Madrid, Spain, Reguilón began his career in the youth ranks of Real Madrid CF, where he spent 10 years progressing through the club’s academy before being loaned out to second division B side UD Logroñés in the 2015/16 season. He returned to Real Madrid in 2016, where he played for Real Madrid Castilla before making his first-team debut in October 2018 in a UEFA Champions League match. A month later he would make his La Liga debut, and in the same season he would be part of the team that won Real Madrid’s fourth Club World Cup title.
After his move to Madrid, Reguilón joined Sevilla FC on loan, where he had a remarkable 2019/20 campaign. During his time with The Reds and Whites He helped win the UEFA Europa League, earning a place in the ideal team for the season’s tournament.
His excellent performances in Spain led him to move to England with Tottenham Hotspur, where he spent two seasons before continuing his career in Europe with a loan spell at Atlético Madrid. Reguilón continued his career with loan spells at Manchester United and Brentford FC, before returning to Tottenham in May 2024.
At international level, Reguilón has recorded six appearances for the Spain senior team, including three in the UEFA Nations League in 2020 and one in the 2021 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Now, Reguilón joins Inter Miami CF as a free agent following his recent stint with Tottenham Hotspur in the 2024/25 season. The experienced left-back offers proven quality in important international competitions and will have a contract with the Club until December 2027.
