Liverpool have had a very difficult few weeks, characterized by four consecutive defeats in all competitions. The latest came on Sunday as Man United won 2-1 at Anfield, which was a particularly painful result for everyone associated with the reigning Premier League champions.

This result follows defeats against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray (Champions League) and Chelsea, meaning they are now four points behind Arsenal in the Premier League table. This is why Arne Slot’s situation is now receiving increased attention.

For now, Liverpool are not thinking about Slot’s future, according to Mick Brown (via Football Insider). However, this could change if poor form continues.

“If a team loses four games in a row, they’re going to worry. Slot has done a brilliant job since taking over from Jurgen Klopp, they won the championship last season and did very well, and I think they’re still clearly a good team. He says all the right things in the media, but with the drop in form and the performances they’ve had recently, there will be people who won’t be happy. Especially after a huge game like the one against United, who they always want to win.

“It’s always the way that when you manage a club the size of Liverpool you are expected to win every game, so losing four games in a row is not enough. The fans will see that, as will the board, and they will expect those results to be known as soon as possible.

“Sometimes it’s difficult, things start to deteriorate and it’s not really clear why, and things just don’t seem to be going well for Liverpool at the moment. They’ll pick it up and get back to the form they’ve shown before, I’m sure, but the manager probably needs that to happen as soon as possible otherwise he’ll be under pressure.”

Liverpool face Eintracht Frankfurt and Brentford in their next two matches, and Slot will desperately need his team to win both. If they also fail to win, the pressure will continue to mount on the Dutchman.
