Tom Holland calls the “The Odyssey” script the “best I have ever read”

Tom Holland will return to theaters as Spider-Man in July 2026, but “Brand New Day” may not even be his favorite film that he played in this month.
Two weeks before his latest film Spider-Man will be released in theaters, Holland will play in the historic epic of Christopher Nolan “The Odyssey”. While speaking to the agency France-Presse (AFP), Holland has praised remarkably high of “Oppenheimer” in Nolan.
“The best script I have ever read,” said Holland about “The Odyssey”.
In “The Odyssey”, Holland is only part of a sprawling and starry cast – including Matt Damon, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leaguizamo, page Elliot, Himhel and several. Damon embodies the protagonist of the former epic Ulysses, while the Holland will represent his son, Telemachus.
Although many of these actors have already worked with Nolan, it will be the first Holland in the stick for the acclaimed director. The actor said he liked to be part of the crew.
“Chris is a real collaborator. He knows what he wants … But it is not an environment where you cannot present ideas or create characters in certain ways,” Holland told AFP.
Holland’s position in a Nolan film (and in mind, no less) is enviable. “The Odyssey” marks the follow -up of the acclaimed director of “Oppenheimer”, one of the most critical and successful films in the decade. “Oppenheimer” became a power during the 2024 prize season, winning the best film, best director, best actor (Cillian Murphy), best support actor (Robert Downey Jr.), Best Original Score (Ludwig Görasson), the best cinematography (Hoyte Van Hoytema) and the best mounting (Jennifer Lame).
Nolan’s next media -up to the next film is palpable. In July, the theaters sold a first wave of tickets for the film in 70 mm IMAX a year before the film’s release. The tickets sold in a few minutes.
While Nolan’s career has never been warmer, the summer of 2026 marks a minor return to Holland, whose last cinematographic performance took place in “Uncharted” of 2022. In addition to directing “The Crowded Room” on Apple TV + in 2023, Holland took a few years with the screen.
However, weeks after Holland plays in “The Odyssey”, he will also revive his Spider-Man career with “Brand New Day”. After the success and the end of the “Spider-Man: No Way Way Home” trilogy by Jon Watts in 2021, the Web-Slinger took a few years off. Now he should return to a new film directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, which had previously organized “Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings”. Early marketing for blockbuster teases a return approach to the base for Spider-Man, the hero reducing his resources and connections after the events that change life at the end of “No Way Home”.
“I think we were really limited by what we could do in the last film because of Covid,” said Holland on “Flip Your Wig” in July. “We have shot the whole film on scenes, and now we are really going to rely on this old -fashioned cinema and shooting in real places, that’s why we start in Glasgow. We will use the streets of Glasgow for this solid set game that we are assessing.”
Anyway, Holland fans will have a lot to hope for in July 2026.
