Shubman Gill’s spectacular catch eliminates Tagenarine Chanderpaul on day three
One of the highlights of the third day came early in West Indies’ second innings when Indian captain Gill took an exceptional catch that put the visitors on the back foot again. On delivery by Mohammed Siraj in the 9th, Chanderpaul attempted a shot but missed the ball. Positioned at mid-wicket, Gill ran to his right and dove low to take a very low catch, sliding across the ground to secure the dismissal.
The moment was met with jubilant celebrations from Siraj and the Indian team as it was a maiden breakthrough for India. Chanderpaul scored 10 runs from 30 balls before his dismissal, struggling to adjust to the cross-court toss which led to poor execution of the shot. This catch was not only a display of quick reflexes, but also a pivotal moment that cemented India’s control of the match.
