Man Utd join January race to sign Oumar Solet ahead of Chelsea and Tottenham

Manchester United are now racing with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur to sign a Serie A defender for Ruben Amorim in the January transfer window.
Amorim issues new Fernandes injury update
It’s been a hectic month for Man United, but also quite successful. They have been much harder to beat in the Premier League over the last 12 games, barring their place in Aston Villa’s impressive winning run, and Ruben Amorim is – by his own admission – learning to adapt to the job.
A stubborn Boxing Day win over Newcastle United wasn’t the most convincing, but it proved that the Red Devils are capable of picking up three points even when they are not at their best. And they even achieved it without Bruno Fernandes.
The club captain is currently sidelined with a rare injury and while Amorim has revealed he is eager to return, United will be without their star man against Wolverhampton Wanderers this evening.
The Man United boss revealed: “No chance he plays against Wolves. No chance. You can write that.”
“He can’t be that guy who (when he) doesn’t play, he doesn’t talk,” boss Amorim said. “He always talks. That’s why he’s captain. He has bad things sometimes, the way his arms move, but he has a lot of good things.

This player could improve Man Utd’s midfield depth
“Whenever he recovers from the (previous) game, he’s the one who goes to watch the other guys practice that day, so there’s a lot of things you don’t see. He’s a great leader.”
For United, it is now about taking the next crucial step in qualifying for the Champions League and the January transfer window could still play a crucial role. They have already been linked with Ruben Neves and are now also reportedly considering a new defensive target.
Man Utd joins race to sign Oumar Solet
As reported by TeamTalk, Man United have now joined the race to sign Oumar Solet from Udinese alongside Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and West Ham United.
The 25-year-old centre-back has become a sought-after man in the Premier League thanks to his impressive performances in Serie A and could now be on the move during the January transfer window.
For Man United, the Frenchman could replace Harry Maguire, who is yet to sign a new contract at Old Trafford before his current contract expires this summer.

Solet impressed in every way. In possession, he outplayed Maguire and youngster Leny Yoro, while dominating out of possession. His ability to win the ball back is particularly interesting compared to the Man United duo, with his aggression likely to be a key trait if the Red Devils make a move.
