IHPL drama: DDCA sacks Delhi junior chief selector Ashu Dani | Cricket News

New Delhi: Former Delhi cricketer Ashu Dani, who was the junior chief selector, has been sacked by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) for his alleged involvement in the controversial Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) hosted in Jammu and Kashmir. The league, which included international names like Chris Gayle and Praveen Kumar, was abruptly suspended after the organizers allegedly fled the venue without clearing payments. As a result, the players found themselves stranded at their hotel, with management also awaiting payment of dues.Dani had been appointed president of IHPL.“Ashu Dani was initially asked to resign by the DDCA, but as there was no response from the former Delhi cricketer, the association decided to fire him,” a source told TOI on condition of anonymity. The DDCA also issued a harsh statement on Monday.

Do you think Surinder Khanna and Ashu Dani should be removed from their posts because of their association with IHPL?
“There is a criminal case filed against Dani. He is expected to resign although he claims he is innocent. Otherwise, the DDCA will have to think of another action. As for Khanna, his role ended once the selection committees and coaches were appointed for the season. His job was to recommend names for these posts. He is unlikely to be involved further in the season,” a senior DDCA official told TOI.The DDCA further reminded all stakeholders – including players, coaches, support staff and match officials – to avoid unsanctioned or unauthorized cricket events.“This is to draw the attention of all stakeholders, including players, coaches, support staff and match officials, to the fact that during their engagement with the DDCA, they are required to refrain from any association or participation in unsanctioned, unauthorized or unrecognized leagues, matches or tournaments, whether held within the State or elsewhere. Players, coaches, support staff and match officials are expected to disclose immediately any possible relationship or conflict of interest and must ensure that no such conflict persists or persists and ceases immediately.“It goes without saying that in the event of any unauthorized association, conduct or possible conflict brought to the attention of the DDCA, appropriate action will be taken against the individual.”
