ICC World Test Championship Calendant 2025-27 Cycle Out; The opponents of India are fixed

India is expected to start the World World Championship cycle (2025-2027) with a series of five-game tests against England, from Friday, June 20 in Leeds. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from the test cricket, Shubman Gill takes over, while Rishabh Pant was appointed vice-captain.
India missed the title of the World Test Championship in 2021 and 2023, headed respectively by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The India national cricket team will aim to secure the WTC crown. Gautam Gambhir and Shubman Gill will be focused on the direction of India at their first triumph WTC.

India has a crowded test calendar in the new world test championship cycle, with 18 games aligned on six series in conditions at home and outside. The campaign begins in Headingley, with Edgbaston, Lord’s, Old Trafford and the Oval to host the four remaining games in the next series.

India introduced itself to the series of home tests against WA and SA at the end of 2025
Team India will host two series of crucial home tests later in 2025 as part of their world testing championship campaign.
In October, they will face the Antilles in a series of two games, with games planned for Ahmedabad and New Delhi. It will be an ideal opportunity to obtain early WTC points under familiar conditions.
The men in blue will then face South Africa at home in November-December. The Proteas will play two tests in Kolkata and Guwahati. South Africa exceeded the WTC 2023-25 table and qualified for the final, where they are currently faced with Australia champions at Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London.
India concludes the WTC 2025–27 cycle with a Border-Gavaskar trophy at home
In August 2026, India will visit Sri Lanka for a two test series – their only assignment outside in the subcontinent during this cycle. Although the conditions are familiar, the solid home file of Sri Lanka will force India to show flexibility and intelligent strategy.
Later this year, India will go to New Zealand for another series of two tests. Known for their locations adapted to seams, New Zealand will pose a difficult challenge to the depth and adaptability of India. This series will be a crucial element of the performance record abroad in India.
The campaign will end with a series of marquee households against Australia for the Border-Gavaskar trophy in January to February 2027. This five testing competition could play a decisive role in determining the qualification for the WTC final in June 2027. Overall, the WTC calendar of India will test its skills.
