“I was spoiled” [Exclusive]

Colin Farrell has become synonymous with the character of The Penguin since Matt Reeves‘ movie The Batman in 2022. The film spawned a spin-off series on HBO called The Penguin with Farrell as Oz Cobb, the Penguin of Gotham. While many wonder if we’ll see a season 2 of the award-winning series, Reeves’ next episode of Gotham could be where we see Farrell next. The scenario for The Batman – Part II is over, and one question is on our minds: will the storyline do justice to Oz and the growth we’ve seen for the character (for better or worse) in The Penguin?

Collider Perry Nemiroff recently spoke with Farrell for his upcoming film, THE Ballad of a Little Playerand naturally, she had to ask about Farrell’s experience in Reeves’ Batman universe. Nemiroff asked: “When the script of The Batman 2 came to you, what made you say, “I have something to gain by returning to that place.”his role as an actor who always seeks to develop my profession and challenge myself in new ways? »

Farrell explained that he wasn’t sure he ever got “all that out of anything,” but that being a part of Reeves’ Gotham was something special to him. He went on to say:

“I love this world. I mean, I’ve loved it as a movie fan since Batman ’66. I grew up watching this, and Burgess Meredith was my first penguin, and then Danny DeVito was my second penguin. SO Chris NolanThe work of, of course, was extraordinary in this universe. But to see how Matt [Reeves] has reimagined a world that is quite unique and still honors the struggles of this city and the psychological struggles of the character of Bruce Wayne and Batman, and who is whose shadow – is Bruce Wayne the real guy, or Batman? Just being a part of that world… Honestly, just being in something that’s happening in Gotham, where a character called Bruce Wayne and Batman exist, is such a joy to me. “
