“I think we’re hitting our stride.”

“I think we’re hitting our stride and everything is coming together. Like I always say, one person can’t change everything, I can’t go out there and do everything by myself. Nobody can. It’s a team sport, and I just think we all come together and execute as one.”

And they executed him. After allowing three touchdowns on Philadelphia’s first three offensive drives, the Cowboys defense made eight straight stops down the stretch to allow their offense to score 24 unanswered points in an improbable victory.

“Any win is a big win, especially for this organization,” Williams said. “For me personally, regardless of the team, regardless of the situation, to be down 21-0, to see the responsibility that we took in the locker room and the constructive criticism that we received in the locker room, to come out in the second half and be able to execute to the best of our abilities was incredible to see and incredible to be a part of.”

Was there a moment in the game where Williams knew the game had turned?

“I put my head down and try to win every rep, every race to be the best person and the best player I can be to help this team win,” Williams said. “I really wasn’t watching the moments.”

The moment that ended up coming true was Dallas’ one and only sack of the night, from Osa Odighizuwa as the Eagles had third-and-2 on their own at the 37, the sack sending them back 12 yards and forcing a punt. Williams recalled that the defensive line unit was frustrated with the way they started the game and struggled to be better in the second half in order to make plays like that.

“The defensive line kind of figured we need to meet some playmakers in our room and we need to get out here and play,” Williams said. “In the running game, in the passing game, somebody in the defensive line room has to make a play. And then Osa made one of the game-changing plays. A lot of guys in that room made a game-changing play. It’s super awesome to be a part of the incredible group that we have.”

Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones has been full of praise for Williams since his acquisition at the trade deadline, calling him an “integral” piece for Dallas in the present and future. The respect was mutual on Williams’ part.

“It’s an honor, a guy like him who’s been around great football players his whole life and his whole career in this industry,” Williams said. “The most important thing I came here to do is do my best to help this team win football games…He took a chance on me, this organization took a chance on me by trading for me, and the best I can do is give it my all.”

On one of Williams’ passes, Eagles RB Saquon Barkley gave Williams a ball to the ribs while he chipped him in pass protection. As he returned to the game and continued to play, Williams acknowledged that it was an injury that will need to be tended to this week.

“Yeah, Saquon got me,” Williams said with a laugh. “They’re a little messed up right now. I’m going to do some treatment, some rehab and things like that to get ready for Thursday.”

That said, Williams’ return to action should serve as evidence that he will likely be able to play against the Chiefs in three days, another important game for Dallas.
