Hundreds of fans gather to hand over flag ahead of Central American Cup final

The quetzaltecane passion was present again. Hundreds of Xelajú MC supporters gathered on the night of Thursday, November 20 to present the traditional flag to the team, Exactly one week before the final return of the Central American Cup which will be played at the Cementos Progreso stadium.
The streets of Quetzaltenango were filled with lights, fireworks and the unmistakable sound of the Quetzaltécan anthem. “Moon of Xelajú”, which accompanied the celebration. Supporters have once again demonstrated their commitment to the club in one of the most important moments in its history.
Xelajú MC will play its first Central American Cup final in its history as a club. The team led by Amarini Villatoro will face Alajuelense of Costa Rica in two decisive matches.
The first leg final will be played on November 26 at the Morera Soto Stadium in Costa Rica, while the second leg will take place on December 3 at the Cementos Progreso Stadium in Guatemala, where thousands of fans are expected to support the Superchivos.
For Xelajú MC, this final represents the opportunity to win his first international title. The Quetzaltécan club has already assured its participation in the 2026 Champions Cup, where it will face Mexican and American teams, but the objective is to lift the Central American champion trophy.
Amarini Villatoro was clear in his aspirations: “There is a final in front of us and we don’t need to be mediocre, we need to try to win it and we go to Costa Rica with that hunger.” The Guatemalan coach is seeking a third title at the helm of Xelajú. The Quetzaltecan team will travel to Costa Rica on Saturday, November 22 after facing Cobán on the date corresponding to the 21st day of the national tournament.

The flag displayed on Thursday evening, November 20, was a sign of the unconditional support that the supporters give to their team. Even though there is a week left before the final return, the fans did not want to wait any longer to show their support.
Between songs, flags and fireworks, supporters gathered in front of the concentration hotel in a festive atmosphere which anticipated what will be the big celebration of the Central American Cup final.
