Hulu will become international tiles on Disney +

Hulu will replace Star as a tile on Disney +international service.

This marks the first major international extension for Hulu and closely follows Disney buying Comcast outside the American streamer last month.

While Disney streaming activities were shining once again in its latest results of the results of the company, the company’s executive commentary for the third trimester revealed that Hulu would become a “general world entertainment” which, in the fall, will “replace the Disney + star tile”.

Disney + currently includes Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic, with the ESPN and Star brands available in certain territories.

“Work is already underway to continue to improve our technology, and in the coming months, we will implement many improvements within the Disney +application, including new exciting features and a more personalized reception page,” said Disney in the executive commentary which preceded a call for analyst later this morning. “All these works will lead to the unified Disney + and Hulu Streaming App for consumers next year.”

Hulu has long been targeted as an international brand, the streamer almost binding the British Network ITV on a major content agreement as far as 2009. However, this has not materialized and Hulu has since remained a brand only American. By coincidence – or not – ITV and Disney + recently started a content sharing partnership that sees their services in the United Kingdom execute certain lots of the other’s content.

Disney launched Disney + in 2019 and deployed in the following years. The star brand, which was widely used and well known in Latin America and Asia, has been designated as the general entertainment tile.

Disney only a few weeks ago did not finish the process of buying Comcast in Hulu, the streaming service, which began as a joint venture and involved at one point four media giants as stakeholders, underwent Disney’s operational control in 2019 in the context of the acquisition of $ 71.3 billion Century Fox.

In the United States, Hulu programming was regularly integrated into the Disney + lighthouse in the middle of speculation that the streaming exit of almost 20 years would ultimately be absorbed in Disney +. Disney CEO, Bob Iger, and financial director Hugh Johnson, in the comments, who were published before calling the company’s results with Wall Street analysts on Wednesday, said Hulu had been fully integrated into Disney +. They called it a “step forward” which “will create an impressive ensemble of entertainment”.

What is not yet clear is if Hulu will remain an autonomous application once the integration is complete.
