How Trump’s crackdown saved Columbia University

In October 2024, pro-Palestinian activists marched on the campus of Columbia University on New York’s Upper West Side, chanting "Resistance is glorious! We will be victorious!" They held up signs saying "LONG LIVE THE FLOOD OF AL-AQSA," commemorating the deadly Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7. One of my professors, who was having difficulty being heard because of the cacophony, told us that students had sent her emails, telling her that they did not feel safe and that they would be absent. Another teacher told us we would be welcome to leave "personal reasons."
